Review:
Well, the industrial metal giants are back again with their 8th record, ‘Post Self’ in 2017. This record acts as a successor of their 2014 record, ‘A World Lit Only By Light’ which was pretty awesome, yet the drum machine programming was kinda experimental.
Well, with this record; the introduction was pretty well done and sounded promising, like we will be getting ‘Streetcleaner’ vibes in this one. However, most elements in the record didn’t sounded that redeeming as it was literally killing the sound in general. Don’t worry the trademark drone heavy guitars by Justin Broadrick and distorted bass by G.C. Green is still present.
But the drum machine programming didn’t sounded that good well not bad either. But at some point it just misses the mark and makes me kinda confused that where the music is actually going. The music seemed to be on the borderline of electro-industrial and industrial metal. At some cases, it sounded on point as it was purely experimental in nature.
Lyrics were mostly one liners which sounded like band were out of ideas but for some, they are well written about corruption but are poorly sung and at some point, Justin Broadrick’s vocals sounded muffled and when progressed, inaudible. Fix the vocals will you?
Overall, it’s not that bad of an album it’s pretty instense and well crafted. I know repetition in music is hated by many people, so do I but this band is an exception. But the tone deaf and choppy audio editing at vocals was the major problem and also drum machine at some parts. While the album is kinda interesting to look at and also listen to.
