Review:
So, the band who has more potential in producing some legit stuffs in the psychedelic rock with prog rock influences, which made them an undisputed leader of the psychedelic rock of modern era, has now thrown away all the aesthetics that is required for a good and iconic music, and traded awesomeness with stupidity in this record.
Portugal, The Man just went off in this record. I can clearly say that the band have become the victim of peer pressure and also started following the idiotic trends of mainstream pop music, just for gaining chart success. Why? I mean why? What was the need to do that. It’s basically Weezer levels of stupidity.
Musically, the album adopts the unwanted aesthetics of so called rock band Imagine Dragons and literally added more elements of mainstream pop combined. This is what made me cringe all over the album. No feeling, just basic flavor of generic bland pop music which we are tired of tasting, seriously. Well I don’t know what was going on the album. Sometimes going Imagine Dragons, sometimes Black Keys, sometimes The 1975 i.e. a whole lotta confusion is basically present in the entire album.
The good thing about this album is just the flow of every song, that’s it. Oh yeah, I forgot one thing. We can also witness some creep ass vibes of AJR, and the cancerous The Chainsmokers also at certain points. Lyrics are heavily cliched and are really underwritten, oh god it just killed me for all the wrong reasons. I wish some of their stuff would come out in the future will not be that freaking awful.
