Well, after so many teasers, Slipknot finally released their most anticipated track that everyone (including me) were waiting for. The track, ‘Unsainted’ is finally out from their upcoming record, ‘We Are Not Your Kind’ which will be out on 9th August 2019. Finally, it’s on our table.
Well, I just remembered that vocalist Corey Taylor said that it’s gonna reach the Iowa levels of heaviness. We all know that Iowa is one of the best Slipknot album since it came out in 2002, with great tracks like, ‘The Shape’, ‘Before I Forget’, ‘Left Behind’, etc.
But upon hearing this, I didn’t find a single element which was near Iowa. It was literally nowhere, but instead we have a cool influence in the track which is noticeable, if and only if you listen to the track a couple of times. The industrial percussion thumping is basically inspired by Fear Factory which makes me feel that are they the producers of the track? Well I know they ain’t.
The intro and build up of the track was pretty mesmerizing and promising equally. The heaviness can be compared with their other tracks and albums but self-titled and Iowa. Vocals were kinda good but Corey could have been much more energetic in terms of vocals, but the screams are well done. Nailed it at all perspectives though. Sid Wilson’s turntables in the bridge was placed really well and kept the feeling alive in the song. Rest of the instrumentals were pretty well composed and well produced, means we can hope for a really good material from them. Drums and percussion kept me entertained throughout.
Lyrics are based on religion and its kinda edgy and downright revolting, yet well written and also suits the overall theme of the track. Much credit to the band.
